Your Assignment:

Assignment Intro:

Genocide dictionary definition: the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group

While our unit on Elie Wiesel’s Night educates us on the atrocities of the genocide known as the Holocaust, this is far from the only genocide that has taken place over the course of history. There are genocides that occurred prior to the Holocaust, and genocides that have taken place in even more recent times. Unfortunately, lives have been impacted all over the world by these atrocities. This assignment will increase our awareness of these catastrophic events through research and presentations.

The genocides you will be researching:
Native Americans in North America by colonial settlers
Armenian Genocide
Rwandan Genocide/War
Uyghur Genocide in China
Cambodian Genocide
Darfur Genocide
Holodomor (Ukrainian Terror Famine)
Fall of the Aztec Empire
