Just like when you use a database to collect research on a topic for a report or paper, there are databases designed to help you find a book that meets your interests.  

YALSA Book Finder
“A one-stop shop for finding selected lists and award winners.  Users can search this free resource by award, list name, year, author, genre and more, as well as print customizable lists."  -YALSA

Novelist
A guide to fiction and nonfiction reading for all ages.  You can access this database through the LA County Library system.  Select “Novelist” from the menu of databases offered. You can use your own library card to sign in.  Don’t have a library card?  You can get one online or use the MCHS Library Acct: 1111652201702

Whichbook
In a mood?  Find a book that fits it.  Whichbook lets you search for books that match your mood.  You can also search by world location, plot, characters and more.

Note:  Using a book finder database results in finding titles that span a wide range of reading and maturity levels.  The Databases are being provided as resources for students and their families.  MCHS is not recommending any specific books for students and encourages parents to take an active role in helping individual teens choose books - movies and social media - that are the best fit for them and their families.
