I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. You may recall that last year I started posting short tech/teaching tips on Tuesdays (well, most Tuesdays). To get us started for this year, I wanted to share that - just in time for the new school year - I added approximately 6,400 new, recently-published non-fiction books to our library collection! They aren’t books you can touch or feel, but they are, nevertheless, great sources for research. They are all part of our new subscription toEBSCOHost eBook High School Collection. All of the ebooks are available for unlimited simultaneous access, can be read either online or downloaded to iPads and other devices, and their contents can be searched. I'm sure you know that, as a librarian, I love print books, but unlimited simultaneous access and the ability to search their contents are huge advantages of these ebooks for research.
You can access the EBSCOHost eBook High School Collection by visiting the library website (mchslibrary.org) and selecting Research - > Databases. Then, enter the username and password. (Contact me for the username and password). I have also added each of the books as records in our online library catalog (destiny.mbusd.org) so students can find them that way as well. Please take advantage of this great new collection and encourage your students to do so also. Please contact me for help with it, or, better yet, schedule a class visit to use this database and and any of our other great library resources. To schedule a library visit, fill out the Google Form under "Teachers" on the library website, contact me by phone or email, or just drop by the library.
I am excited to be working with all of you this year!
